Week 8 Weather Report

I don’t usually do weather reports since there are minimal impacts across the country most weeks, but this week we have some games that will be affected. I use windfinder.com to get the latest wind and precipitation forecasts, and specifically I want to see sustained winds and gusts (anything sustained over 15-20 MPH impacts QBs throwing and kickers). Keep in mind this article has last been updated mid day on Saturday. We will be updating our twitter on Sunday morning with any new developments, see the games impacted below:

OAK @ BUF  – This game looks to be one of the best weather games on the main slate. Temps will be chilly in the upper 40’s at kickoff but winds will be around 5 MPH and no precipitation.

IND @ CIN – This forecast in Cincinnati is very similar to Buffalo, cooler temps with low winds and no precipitation. No worries at all for this game. See the windfinder.com report below.

LAC @ NE – Now we get into the games that will be impacted by a system moving up the east coast. This game at Foxborough is going to have some impact, but I think people may be over reacting to the weather in this game. As of Saturday there looks to be no meaningful precipitation and winds are only 9-12 MPH with gusts above 20 MPH. Notice the increase in winds late in the day, this is something to keep an eye on. I am using the windfinder.com location at Taunton Airport south of Boston and closer to Foxborough. I think this game could go lower owned due to the scare in weather.

ATL @ NYJ – This game looks to have more nasty weather than the Patriots & Chargers game. There looks to be precipitation but the real concern here is the wind. Sustained wind at kick off at 20 MPH and winds gusting to over 40 MPH. This will have impacts on the passing and kicking game. Be cautious if you are rostering players in this game. I am having very minimal exposure.

SF @ PHI – I am using the windfinder.com location at Philadelphia Intl Aiport just south of Philly near Lincoln Financial. At kickoff the wind is projected at 10-15 MPH and gusts over 30 MPH with minimal precipitation. This current forecast has me reducing shares in this game, if the forecast gets worse I will significantly reduce shares.

CAR @ TB – This is almost the most surprising forecast to me since all the talk is in the Northeast currently. At kickoff winds will be sustained at 18 MPH and wind gusts around 30 MPH. This will have impacts on both the passing and kicking games. The winds look to be dying down as the day goes on, so check back on Sunday to see if the trend continues and we get these winds to go decrease.

DAL @ WASH – This game starts at 4:25 EST and weather looks to be OK at kickoff. Winds will be sustained at 7 to 15 MPH throughout the game, and gusts reaching 28 MPH towards the end. Precipitation looks to be minimal, but the forecast gets pretty bad later in the evening so we need to keep an eye on this game’s forecast Sunday.
