2018 Trinity Forest Golf Club Course Preview

We are headed to a new course this year for the AT&T Byron Nelson, moving to the brand new Trinity Forest Golf Club.  The course has had great reviews and I am excited to see how it plays out.  This could also give a huge advantage to those that do research rather than rely on Course History.  Take 2 weeks ago for example, when the Wells Fargo reverted back to Quail Hollow, and Harman was 20% owned because he was a past winner at a DIFFERENT course.  Let’s try and find that edge this week.

Trinity Forest Golf Club has been stated to resemble a links style golf course with rolling hills and tall native grasses.  Throw in very extreme bunkers and undulating green and we have a resemblence to Erin Hills from last year’s US Open.  Ben Crenshaw helped design this course and really wanted to make players think their away around the course.  The mistakes are magnified by even hitting it to the wrong side of the fairway.  This makes me want to stick to creative players that won’t lose their cool and post a snowman on any given hole.  You have to be very strong in your approach shots as you don’t want to be on the wrong side of the undulation.  As with any Texas event, lets stick with the ball strikers!

Past Winners

Since this is a new course this year, past winners is not relevant.

Weather

The weather this week is going to be HOT HOT HOT. The region has not seen hardly any rain in the last month so this course will be on the drier side and drives will be rolling. Temps for Thursday and Friday will top near the mid 90’s. Wind is not looking to be anything crazy but there will be some gusts.
